Violetear on Branch
Violetear on Branch
A Violetear (pronounced violet ear) with his ears flaring while posing on a small branch in the Talamanca Mountains of San Gerardo de Dota in Costa Rica. He is so compelling with his side glance toward the camera. ‘Feathers Garden’ is set up to invite hummingbirds and other tropical birds to feeding stations for photographers and other admirers to enjoy. It’s a delightful garden filled with gorgeous bright and colorful tropical birds.

I plant my White Salmon garden to attract Hummingbirds, as well as other birds, butterflies and local wildlife. I love finding new species when I travel. According to Wikipedia, Violetears are hummingbirds of the genus Colibri. They are medium to large species found in Mexico, and Central and northern South America. Violetears have ample rounded tails and short or medium black bills.
