Roseatte Spoonbill Cruising the Bay
Roseatte Spoonbill Cruising the Bay
I was so happy to find a Roseatte Spoonbill while cruising the Espiritu Santo Bay on a private boat in January. You can see why it’s called a ‘Spoonbill’ from the spoon shaped beak and it was fun to watch them fishing like a vacuum cleaner skimming the water’s surface next to mud flats. The crisp January morning with blue skies reflecting in the bay also produced a pretty reflection of this beautiful tropical-looking pink wading bird.

There were so many birds in the Espiritu Santo Bay, while I was near Rockport TX photographing Whooping Cranes that I haven’t begun to edit yet. I am slowly making my way through to share the beauty with you.
